Hardy Seeks Vengeance in Taboo

Tom Hardy's latest project looks dark and intense, at least if one goes by the just-released new trailer for the star's upcoming show, Taboo. The eight-part series from BBC One and FX unfolds in 1814 and casts the actor, who played Shinzon in Star Trek Nemesis, as James Delaney, an adventurer who returns home to London from Africa to avenge his father's death. The catch? The locals Delaney believed Delaney was... dead, long dead.

Hardy had a major hand in Taboo. He not only stars in it, but co-created it with his father, Chips, and also with Steven Knight, with whom he'd worked on the show Peaky Blinders and the film Locke. Ridley Scott is executive producer, while co-stars include Jonathan Pryce, Oona Chaplin, Michael Kelly and David Hayman.

Taboo will debut January 7 in the U.K. and January 10 in America.
